Court Resurfacing and Clubhouse Expansion at Ashtead Tennis Players
Problem:
The public courts at Ashtead Tennis Players had become very worn and uneven, limiting playability and safety. Additionally, the clubhouse was small, outdated, and no longer fit for purpose. There was also very little room to the outer side of both courts, creating challenges for safe play and restricting opportunities for growth.

Solution:
With considerable hard work and determination, the club gained permission from the council and environmental agencies to use a strip of adjacent land, extending the courts and creating more run-off space for safer play. This environmental impact was offset by the planting of new trees near the courts.
The resurfacing project is now underway and will provide a modern, high-quality playing surface for both members and the public. Meanwhile, planning permission has been sought for a larger, more practical clubhouse. With support from grants and donations, the club is close to having the new clubhouse plans signed off, ensuring it meets the needs of current and future members.
Benefits:
The upgraded facilities will allow Ashtead Tennis Players to accommodate more classes and group sessions, and to offer enhanced public facilities for players of all ages and abilities. Visiting teams and members will also benefit from a more welcoming and functional clubhouse, ensuring a better experience during league matches and social events.
