What is the difference between Associate and Affiliate membership?

How do our members benefit from the venue joining Surrey Tennis?

The main benefit for your members is the ability to play in both team and individual competitions run by Surrey Tennis. You can keep up to date with all our Surrey competitions HERE. (https://www.surrey.tennis/competitions)Other benefits can include, participation in the loan scheme (up to a value of £25k), support from the Surrey Tennis office, attendance at the annual showcase and forums and attendance and voting at the Annual Meeting. Members will also be able to access the new Surrey Tennis Hub, a one-stop shop for Surrey Tennis fans.

How is Surrey Tennis membership different to LTA Registration?

Previously, clubs paid their registration fees directly to individual counties. This changed a few years ago, with clubs paying the LTA, which then redistributed an equal amount to the counties. However, under the current LTA funding arrangements, the fees paid to the LTA and the funding allocated to counties are no longer directly linked. As counties, we can identify which clubs have paid their LTA fees, but we no longer have a direct relationship with our members. To address this and align with several other counties, we are introducing a small membership fee based on club status and size. This fee will formalise the relationship between Surrey Tennis and its members, ensuring contractual clarity and providing access to a range of benefits.

Clubs will still need to register with the LTA to gain benefits such as public liability insurance through Howden, free LTA Advantage+ Play Membership for all members (which includes access to the LTA Advantage Wimbledon ballot), business services via the Venue Support Toolkits (including the Legal Helpline, LTA Buying Group, and My Tennis Toolkit), and comprehensive safeguarding support from the LTA Safeguarding Team. However, Surrey Tennis membership will now be in addition to LTA registration, offering separate benefits tailored specifically to Surrey clubs.

Will we pay a pro-rata rate if we join later in the year?

If we cannot pay via card, can we pay via bank transfer?

If your venue is unable to make a membership payment using a debit or credit card, you have the option to pay via bank transfer. To do so, please get in touch via admin@surrey.tennis

What is the money going to be used for?

Accepted Answer

This additional income will supplement the money received from the LTA. Currently the money received from the LTA covers roughly 25% of our operating costs, with the remainder mainly being funded by monies raised from partners, and in some years where there is a shortfall, necessitating using some of our reserves.
