CLUB FORUMS
Following our first venue forum back in May, we are pleased to announce a further 3 forums coming up in September and October. Details are below. For sign up for the 2 forums coming up in September, please reply no later than Friday 23rd September.
Forum 1
Club and Coach Relationship
Date:
Tuesday 27 September – 7pm to 9pm (arrival from 6.30pm)
Location:
Woking LTCC (Pine Road, GU22 0DX)

A couple of head coaches from Surrey venues will do short talks on their setup and how they interact with the club and its committee.

This will provide attendees an opportunity to ask question as well as share best practice.

We plan to have a member of the LTA Regional team provide an update as well outline the latest information and resources available on the topic of club and coach support.
Forum 2
Facilities, Funding and Floodlights
Date:
Thursday 29 September – 7pm to 9pm (arrival from 6pm)
Location:
Wigmore LTC (43 Becmead Avenue, SW16 1UJ)

There will be an opportunity for attendees to come early at 6pm to play some tennis under one of their LED floodlit courts.

Louise Mckerchar, from Wigmore LTC, will give a short presentation on their clubhouse project and go through the key phases of development.

A member of the LTA facilities team will be giving a presentation on the latest updates surrounding facility and funding support and guidance.

We also have a member of Banstead Downs providing a short presentation about the operation of the bar at their club and provide advice to other venues who have a bar or are thinking about getting a bar at their venue.
Forum 3
Opening Tennis Up
Date:
Thursday 13 October – 7pm to 9pm (with arrival from 6.15pm)
Location:
Alexandra Park (Alexandra Drive, Surbiton, KT5 9AA)

There will be an opportunity for attendees to come early from 6.15pm to observe park tennis courts at Alexandra Park. These are run by Surbiton Racket & Fitness Club as part of their Parks Tennis in Kingston programme. Members of their team will be available to answer any questions.

The forum will be taking place in the clubhouse of the croquet club, which is directly next to the park tennis courts. We will have a short presentation from the Head Coach of Surbiton to talk about their programme and how it has developed in recent years.

We will have Chris Marshall from G-Tennis deliver a short presentation on his community tennis programme and talk about the success he has had in fundraising as well as providing opportunities to play tennis for those from low socio-economic backgrounds. Chris was this year’s national winner of the LTA’s Community & Parks Award.

A member of the LTA regional team will be providing an update around diversity & inclusion and the work they are doing to open tennis up.
